All State Study Sessions and Homework


 

Congratulations! You are auditioning for All State ______! 

All State #1 Audition: Musicianship and Sight Reading ____________________

All State #2 Audition: Vocal Quality: ___________________________

 

Below is the schedule to train for the first two All State Auditions. Please make sure to attend all the sessions! Remember you should be working on your vocabulary every day! 

  • Week 1- Overview, Sight Reading, Major/ Minor (Augmented/ Diminished HS) 

  • Week 2- Rhythm, Pitch, Intervals

  • Week 3- Key Signatures Sharps, Rhythm and Pitch, Intervals

  • Week 4- Key Signatures Flats, Time Signatures, Intervals

  • Week 5- Final Overall Review

 

Here is some homework to help you prepare for the All State Test. I HIGHLY recommend that you do it so you are successful at your audition.

 

Musicianship Test

This app is AWESOME and FREE! Look at the lessons; it will reinforce what you have learn in the sessions & class. 

 

  • Relative Pitch Lit Free

    • This app has intervals that you can study from and you can quiz your self on

    • Remember to only practice these intervals 

      • Perfect Octave 

      • Major Seventh 

      • Major Sixth

      • Perfect Fifth

      • Perfect Forth

      • Major Third

      • Tone (Major Second) 

 



 

Sight Reading 

Practice two exercises a night from the sight reading packet given to you. 

Remember these tips so you may be successful! 

  • Do NOT write in the solfege

  • Never practice them in order

  • Do not memorize the exercises

  • Keep a steady tempo; do not start and stop

  • Remember to sing with good tall vowels

  • Use a metratome (set at 65-70) or Intro track to start 

 

Remember to schedule a 5 minute sight reading check with me weekly! 


 

Vocal Quality

Record and submit your vocal quality by Week 4.
